You have dreams, and Ford Motor Company Fund is dedicated to helping you reach them. If you are a high school student enrolled in Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) interested in taking advantage of all that the Ford Driving Dreams (FDD) Tour has to offer, look no further. Whether you’re planning on going to college or trying to start your own business as a young entrepreneur, we are here to help you take control of your future. The time to chart your own path to success is now!
So, are you ready to join our Ford Driving Dreams network?
It’s simple. First, watch this short introductory video to get a sense for what this program can do for you. After the video, select the path which you are interested in: scholarship versus entrepreneurship.
Students seeking college scholarships will receive a free, online essay writing course and will be asked to ultimately submit a 500-word essay describing “What Drives Your Dream?” The best essays will demonstrate strong writing skills, a clear dream for the future with emotional substance, a passion for helping others and giving back to the community, and an understanding of the importance of an education.
Students seeking entrepreneurship funding will receive a free, online business development course and will be asked to ultimately submit a pitch outlining how they plan to build the business of their dreams. The best pitches will demonstrate a clear dream for the future with emotional substance, a passion for helping others and giving back to the community, and an understanding of the importance of an opportunity.
In addition, you will be asked to attach your official or unofficial high school transcript, as well as a resume or a list of extracurricular activities. Entrepreneurship contestants, you will need to provide a short description of how you plan to use the Ford Driving Dreams funding to help build your business, as well as designate a school-employed “Project Advisor,” who can verify and supervise these spending plans. Scholarship contestants, you will need to submit one letter of recommendation. All contestants must provide contact information (personal phone number and email address) for both the project advisor and the reference.
